Wow! Has it really been that long?
A few years have passed since my last post, and I can tell you, a lot has changed….me, the world and everything!
So let this be the beginning of a reawakening into a world where my human observations of yesteryear have turned into a digital maelstrom…where the simple and the banal have become the fodder of a revolution in how we view, react and commercialise human behaviours that were once the reserve of the private individual. A world where privacy has been redefined – elected not assumed. Where wants and desires have become basic necessities and delayed gratification is a prehistoric concept. Where technology is no longer an appendage but an integral part of being.
We want everything now. We want everything everywhere. We want everything just the way WE want it. Compromise has been overshadowed by infinite choice.
Have we become the mythical ‘perfect’ market that I read about in Economics 101? Where we have perfect information about any person, good or service we may want to engage or consume allowing us to be the ultimate fair weather buyers – if you can’t do it, I can find someone else who can….NOW.
Loyalty and patience are being tested to the max – who needs to wait – its all there for the taking. My loyalty to you is based on how fast you can deliver what I want…ideally before I realised that I wanted it.
So here’s to to the reawakening of me – fully adjusted to the world around me….a revolution in people, organisations and things where everything great and good seems to be prefixed by Digi-this and Digi-that.
Looking forward to exploring what its really all about and, amongst other things, what it means for the infamous chou-chou, the service industry, how we work, compete and play, how we fit in those pesky square holes or any other shape we may conceive (yes…I know I wrote those a while back but they have not been left untouched by the digi- phenomenon). Most importantly, has it redefined what being ‘nice’ is all about….surely my Apple watch can do that for me now???
