About

Welcome!

Having started my career in the City a few more years ago than I would care to admit, I made the decision to move into banking software and then management consulting. I was primarily driven by curiosity – what were all of these consultants actually doing? I could see a million ways that I could make our business, systems and processes better and wanted to be in a position to ‘make a difference’.

I would say that my energy and enthusiasm for ‘fixing’ things has certainly gone some way to building up my career to date. However, after an enlightening chat with one of my managers a few years ago, I started to wonder whether being ‘nice’ really makes a difference. Can being nice really impact how you deliver consulting services or generally interact with people? Can you teach someone to be ‘nice’?
It is these questions that have driven me to ‘blog’ – to share some of my experiences and ideas and delve into what nice really means.

I am no expert, however, my friends and colleagues will tell you that I can talk on this topic ad infinitum. Suffice to say, they are celebrating my foray into blogging and on their behalf, I would like to extend a sincere thank you for visiting.

The Nice Consultant

  1. This is so far from my field of experience that I am intrigued. Business; consulting; banking software; the City – all anathema to me. So I will read and hopefully learn. Good luck!
